Hi there! My name is Chris, and I’m thrilled to share some exciting news for all you students, new grads, and younger orthopedic physical therapists out there.
I have recently noticed a big gap in our industry: there is not much accessible advice to guide new grads in transitioning from school to the real-world demands of outpatient orthopedics. That’s why I’ve created a resource to bridge this gap and help you become the physical therapist you’ve always envisioned!
I have curated blog posts discussing a plethora of important topics that I have mentored many therapists through in my career so far. This collection will feature 50+ blog posts covering everything you need to know—from handling evaluation day like a pro, how to avoid the embarrassment of forgetting which side of the body a patient’s injury is on, how to prepare for an interview, to mastering personal finances and many more practical topics.
Having worked as a Physical Therapist for nearly a decade, I’ve seen firsthand the steep learning curve new grads face in our field. Ironically, the skills you need most—things like patient communication, critical problem-solving, and efficient documentation—often are glazed over in school. Some of you may have been lucky enough to work with excellent clinical instructors who helped fill in these gaps; others, not so much. Regardless of your background, my goal is to guide you toward becoming the confident and capable physical therapist you aspire to be.
Over the years, I’ve served as a clinical instructor, coach, manager and mentor, learning countless lessons along the way. My mentees often tell me that the insights I’ve shared have been game-changers for their early careers. I have even Incorporated these topics into my current company’s Mentoring Program and Leadership Development Program. Now, I want to share these same pearls of wisdom (This one is for you Steve!) with you.
Stay tuned—my first post drops tomorrow! I’ll be diving into the “trial-and-error” approach to treatment, a method that’s invaluable when you’re starting out.
This journey isn’t just about my list of topics. I want to hear from you! If there’s something you’re struggling with or a specific area where you’d like more insight, let me know. I’ll make sure to include it in future posts to best support you and your growth!
And lastly, please pass this information onto anyone you feel would enjoy this free content and access to my experiences and pearls! Share, repost, comment, forward, whatever works for you! If we can spread the word, more therapists will be that much more equipped for the challenges of the real world!
At the end of the day, I want to do this to help you grow and learn to set you up for success in your career within outpatient orthopedics!
